Max 8 and AutoCad 2007

I've been told "not until max 9 comes out" :( . Sounds wrong, but I heard that from a guy I know that works closely with Autodesk. I thought they would release an object enabler, but he says no. So I just set AutoCAD 2007 to always save to the 2004 file format. It works for now.

Come on! How do you expect Discreet to keep up with every little change AutoDesk makes in their drawing format to hinder the competition, seriously Max would have to be owned by the same company as AutoCAD for that sort of integration and cooperation to take place, Ooops wait a minute, OoooH, Nevermind :)

LOL.

On a side issue - did they really change the format AGAIN in AutoCAD 2007 to support all the new features in the program?!?

Geez! I thought they would have pro-actively changed the format the last time (2004) to "future proof" the files to be forward compatible with the major changes in 2007.

I guess that kind of forward thinking is just too much to ask for.

Has anybody else experienced a licensing incompatibility with AutoCAD 2007 and Max8? Another student here ran into this problem - it gives an error that says "license status 0.1.0011" when trying to run Max, after installing ACAD2007. I looked it up on the Autodesk web site and it's supposed to be a problem with SATA hard drives and there's a fix but it doesn't appear to work.

I have SATA hard drives so I guess I'll steer clear of 2007.
