jophus14
After rendering, I noticed a weird smoke look on my Bathroom ceiling. I turned off the Vray light and it still appears. I did boolean the ceiling for my can lights on the right side, but i'm not sure if that would cause the smoke look. Any ideas or suggestions? JamesTaylor
try rendering it without the glass screen, dark area looks as if its relating to that? if it dissapears i think its to do with the interaction of the light with the glass. as it is i'd get back in touch the plumber, you've got a leaking pipe somewhere!! Crazy Homeless Guy
is the smoke the same as a map you have set in the background with clouds in it?
jophus14
I bet your right. I'll have to delete the background cloud bitmap and see what happens. Good observation......... Why would it reflect onto the ceiling though?
kippu
it is reflecting on the glass screen and not on the ceiling
jophus14
Just like my bathroom scene, an exterior hotel scene that i'm rendering has the mysterious smoke look on it as well. Both models are imported from Sketchup and i'm wondering if that's the problem. Even when I erase some of the faces on my model, the smoke effect still shows up on some faces and not others........I'm getting frustrated. Are there any more suggestions. It's just a plain scene (Grey material, 1 Direct Light, Basic Vray settings). The face is missing from the smaller building due to testing, but you can see the smoke effect still on there as well as the larger portion of the hotel. Sawyer
That looks like it could be an issue with coplanar faces which is an issue with bim models. try increasing secondary ray bias to a really small number .002 and see if that helps.
jophus14
I re-modeled some of the faces of the hotel in Sketchup and re-rendered the scene, i'm not getting the black splotches anymore. But on my bathroom scene, the ceiling is just a box made in Viz and has nothing to do with Sketchup so the smoke is still a mystery. I'm gonna try what you said Sawyer on my bathroom scene and i'll post the results when i'm finished, hopefully that'll work. Thanks for the imput..............JophuS
