theshae
What is the best way to incorporate very Hi Res textures in Maya? I am trying to use aerial photos for visualization but Maya keeps crashing when I use the textures. I can’t go much higher than 2048x2048 before Maya chokes. Is there a max size texture you can use? Is there a special technique I am missing?

theshae
The Images are very Hi Resolution aerials. If I want to bring them into Maya as a texture I have to size them down considerably and therefore losing resolution.
Karlfucious
The max texture size maya can read is 8K so I dont know why it isn't reading them. I personally use 4K maps all the time and I've never had it crash on me yet and im not on that fast of a machine either. Mabey you could post more details on whats acually going on in your scene so I can figure out what the problem is.
daviniti
If you go to your PREFERENCES and DISPLAY, by default your Max. texture display res is set to 2048. This is your problem, up the number to only what you need and you should be good. Hope this helps.
