IC
Have been working on this model for a few days now so I wanted to render and post my first WIP to see how it goes from here. Virtually no time spent on scene set up so far, just a light for the sun and some radiosity. C&C welcome........
Iain Denby
Looks very promising.
Geoff
Looking good Ian, especially for no setup time. I expect an absolutely amazing image from you
STRAT
yes. promising. updated keep us you must.
IC
Thanks for the feedback. 'Tartan razorblade'-that's brilliant! It actually does look like tartan now you've pointed it out. Shame it's in Liverpool! It's alternating blue and red coursing brickwork to tie in with the neighbouring buildings.............
IC
Not much of an update but I'm adding people and props now so final should come after the weekend.
STRAT
looking cool. whatch out for obvious material tiling. and brighten that sky, it's awfully dull.
marklazaro
apart from the fact that you have to green it up . . . i think the waves in the water look too predictable, you can see a pattern.
IC
Been working on the scene but still to tweak textures and lighting. Think I might prefer the lower viewpoint. And I've just been told the design of the main block is to change. Wohoo there goes my weekend
Iain Denby
Iain why is your water blue?
IC
I was trying to make it dull and opaque but it has come out too blue.

John Martin
Very nice renderings. Well done! I especially like the exterior. So many interiors out there nowadays and no where near as many excellent exteriors. regards, John
IC
Thanks. Next update of the lounge area while I still wait for the redesign.
Logitek
I reeeeeally like the exterior!! I also prefer the lower view. But one thing has been catching my attention since the very first render... what's that purple thing in the reflection on the bottom right? alfienoakes
Ian, Cracking images... The water does look a bit uniform.. but that would be it for the externals.. The internal shot looks great.. One thing that catches my eye though. The external environment just happens to line up with the balcony parts, and looks like a poster or something on the balcony itself. It just looks like it is framed slightly with the balcony pieces.. Andy
warprat
Wow really like the exterior how did you do that. hmm. and the interiors are just superb. great work Iain.
IC
Thanks for all the comments. Very encouraging and helpful. The purple is opaque, coloured glass which I need to pick out more as you go right up the face of the building. You can see a pane in the interior shot. I see what you mean about the backdrop Andy. It is a bit unfortunate. I won't blow the sky out as much and that should help.
IC
Test of new design. Hi res render underway now.
bigroo
Hi Iain The water has benefitted a whole lot better from the new camera angle and the brighter sky suits it. What was this modelled in?
warprat
Looking good, but the water is a bit stiff dont you think? and The whole image is a bit more grainier than your other renders. Other than that the design looks cool. cheers.
STRAT
beautiful! my only crit is the water. looks too unnatural. too flat, reflective, blue and wet solid floor like.
IC
Michael-modelled in ADT(main buildings) and LightWave(windows, etc). Kameel-the grain is just due to lack of refinements in FPrime as it was a 10 minute test render. Steve-do you think the water looks any better at full res? (see attached) It prints quite well but I'm glad of the feedback as water's always tempting to 'over egg'. Cheers guys.
Iain Denby
The water looks like it's only about 50mm deep for some reason. Perhaps scale up the bump.
