TWSARCH
I am new to the 3D world. Can anyone offer advice on parking lot stripes? I see them all over the place and would like to know how people have done it. Could also use advice on other landscaping items like curbs and sidewalks. I have a way to do this stuff but I doubt it’s the “proper” way to do it. I use ADT 06, Viz-render and Photoshop 6. Thanks
frank1331
I do it the old fashoned way. I create a 4 inch wide x 18 foot long box, give it some depth, and array the heck out of them. Just give it a material then render. Wish there was an easier way, but thats the best I've got.

TWSARCH
Thanks for the advice. I don’t have access to max and don’t know what edit mesh and UVW modifiers are, I would guess max stuff? (edit mesh sounds familiar?) I was thinking about doing parking stripes the way I do curbs. All our sites are not flat. So I make a few copies of the site model shape in ADT. Convert to, or make polylines in ADT for the curb n side walk and extrude them bigger (Z) then the site shape. Line up the extrusion to one of the site shapes and Boolean to get the shape of the extrusion with the top the same as the site. Put that together with one of the other site shapes and shift it up 4” or so to get curbs. Boolean some more to separate materials so there is nothing overlapping (is this necessary?). Do similar to get different materials for paving and planted areas. Every thing has a common alignment mark to snap to. I made up this procedure myself as I am the closest thing to an ADT expert here (I am a beginner!) I don’t know if this is the “right” way to do it and I am sure others do it this way too but it’s all I can figure out on my own. I figure if I don’t find a better way I could do the same for stripes. If anyone has a better way to do all of this please let me know.
