Devin Johnston
My take on the "free of charge" statement was that they were just trying to reassure us that we weren’t going to be charged for any 1.xx upgrades. In fact I'm pretty sure that Tom and Mike have stated that we wouldn’t be charged at all for any 1.xx upgrades, but your right they've gone back on their word before. I personally don't think they will charge us for these upgrades, my concern lies with what there going to do with V2 if there unable to get all the "promised features" in the 1.xx upgrades. Also do you think they will consider this AGS shader as a permanent fix for the sun & glass problem?
buffos
if it works, i dont care. I think AGS will be easier to tweak and get more fancy results, but not realistic once. If i can control how much light comes in, then the problem is that i dont actually see how light is distributed in my room. I can ofcourse make the room darker or lighter (simulating glass thinkness) but this would be arbitary. Not what will ACTUALLY happen. Do you like that? I dont. (i can live with it for a while, but i dont want to pay again to have it working correctly)
Devin Johnston
I agree, it's not "physically accurate" but it's going to do the job until they can fix the problem with V2.
mesht
errr.....what's the difference between RS0 and RS1 engine?
Devin Johnston
RS0 is a preview engine that will give you very fast results but won't be entirely accurate. I'm not sure what method it uses, could be some kind of GI engine.
