Ram Management

Recommended Posts

Recently I upgraded my workstation and I now have 3.25 GB of RAM. When I render a scene in Max I notice that only a small amount of Ram is being used, but also virtual memory . I turned off virtual memory in windows but I still see it being used by Max during the rendering process. Is there a way to force Max to optimize the available RAM? Are there "rules" for managing the RAM in Max?

i'd let Windows automatically handle virtual memory, and as far as ram goes with max - max will use what it needs when it needs.

if your model is small it'll use little ram. it's suprising how little ram you actually need. all my machines only got 1 gig in them each and 99% of the time i render well within ram with some pretty huge models.

you'll soon know when your rams run out.

make sure that your new rams are correctly installed physicaly & logically read by windows>"system properties"

you forgot to specify your workstation,it also cant handle the size you installed,it could be limited to a lower value
