Soft Corners

I am from New Mexico where most of the buildings are adobe or made to look like it. This means thick plaster, thick walls (min 8") and no real sharp corners. A window or door would be set deep into the wall with a hand plastered ledge around it. I have tried many different methods for these soft edges but I have not found something that I think really works well. I was hoping that someone has found something that they like. At this point I think that I would love to see something like this presented for a new challenge not only because I have found it a challenge but I have not seen it that much in 3d galleries.

If you are looking for a cheap, fast way of doing soft edges... there is a free plugin for 3D Studio from the guys that bring you Vray... called f-edge.... it is actually a cheat, but try it out:
