leoA4D
After two attemps managed 4.2 and 9.6 mb and indicated "Awaiting Data", I have given up on the dl at 11:15pm. I will try dl'g again over the weekend. As someone mentioned, any other company would have had more mirrors and efficient dl times. NL... (shaking head) I am amazed at how quiet this and the MWR forums are with only a few token renderings. Some growling and spitting.
AJLynn
Huh. Does OSX have anything like Free Download Manager? (A program that allows you to enter a URL to download, handles secure logins and supports resume.) Given how bad the download situation is right now I was very happy to have it. Adehus
Speed Download worked really well for me: Speed Download | The Ultimate Mac OS X download manager It fixes the download problem nicely- it downloaded in 20 minutes. Now I need something to fix the app... I can open Studio, but can't get anything else to work.
Devin Johnston
What's not working for you adehus?
Adehus
I'm starting to get somewhere now, but problems abound... mostly FormZ plugin stuff... list includes: -Maxwellz plugins spontaneously decides to use rendering settings from past worksessions (including filenames!) -Still uses beta material names (like dielectric, metal, etc.), but the materials don't show properly- ie aluminum looks like black lacquer paint -MXM preset materials don't look *anything* like their descriptions... blue metal looks like matte white Not sure how much more I'm going to experiment, but my first outing is very dissappointing. AJLynn
That's too bad, looks like they may have made some MacOS-only errors. Looks like you really do get the "golden" shaft. BTW, could you tell me whether it's a universal binary?

Looks good Adehus but it is for Tiger 10.4.6 and I am still Panther, by choice (I don't want the bells and whistles).
leoA4D
Now downloading again. NL has added about 5 new mirror sites and the rate is 25-40kb/sec, 30min dl. Edit: Download took 14 minutes.
Adehus
BTW, could you tell me whether it's a universal binary? Not being a macintel user yet, I'm not sure how to find out... have any ideas? EDIT: Sounds like the answer is 'no': http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14427&start=
AJLynn
Thanks. Then I'm not going anywhere near the Mac version... can you imagine running software like that in emulation?...

EDIT: Sounds like the answer is 'no': http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14427&start=15 Macintel users can install and boot XP then install the M~R 1.0 Intel version which will run faster than rosetta.
