chow choppe
Hi all i have started using ACAD 2007....i am not able to find out some things that were in the older versions.... 1.)During the extrude command i could select 2 points and give them as extrusion height. Now its not available. It just takes first as the default point on its own and just drags the object for height....is there any other way of doing the older procedure 2.)IN autoCAD 2007 while drawing in an isometric view its very difficult to draw along a Y direction or wanted direction in the UCS plane even if ur UCS is set to world..U can still draw in z direction.....u have to be very careful to draw along y axis.:-) 3.) My ACAD starts with a a grey perspective viewport even if i choose autocad classic layout..i think that cane be corrected...but how 4.) In earlier versions i was able to snap to the object which i am moving or copying...but in cad 2007 i can't snap on the object which i am moving or copying. 5.) i am trying to select an object in shade mode but the cursor is selecting the one behind that object....earlier versions didn't have this problem... please see the attached image,,,,i am trying to select the cornice but its selecting the wall behind it http://img133.imageshack.us/my.php?image=problem5ek.jpg Thanks
bigroo
I'll work through these 1 at a time if I can help. 3. You are in a 'Realistic' view. Change your view style in the Visual Style control panel on the dashboard. (Tools menu » Palettes » Dashboard) Click Tools menu » Customize » Workspaces. What is your default template set to? You could always startup ACAD with a cmdline switch with a template of your choice.
bigroo
2. Draw using cmdline input for now until you are used to it. I have tried this morning and have no such problem unfortunately.
bigroo
1. Specify height of extrusion or [Direction/Path/Taper angle] Click Direction This allows you to chose 2 points if you have your osnap on.
bigroo
4. You still should be able to do this, right click osnap for drafting settings and check which snaps you have applied.
bigroo
5. I can't seem to replicate your problem again. Try excluding objects from your selection preview to stop it from picking the wall up. Click Tools menu » Options. In the Options dialog box, Selection tab, click Visual Effect Settings. In the Visual Effect Settings dialog box, click Advanced Options. In the Advanced Preview Options dialog box, select any of the following options to exclude objects from selection previewing. I hope some of these have helped. kippu
sorry for hijacking the thread ... but bigroo , do u you 3dsout to export your models or do you import dwgs from max?
bigroo
Hi Kippu, Majority of the time I import directly from max. It's the way I was shown when I first started and it's the way it's been specified on my freelance stuff.
chow choppe
ok here are my comments after i tried ur solutions bigroo... problem no 1. using direction i can only select two points in a direction perpendicular to object plane....earlier it was not like that ...for eg if i try to extrude a rectangle with same height as on of its sides i shud be able to click the two end points and give them as height...but using direction command in acad 20007 it doesn't take those two points because they are planar and not in z axis i.e not one over the other in z axis problem 4.) i think u haven't understood my problem.....ok here is my try at it again to explain u......Suppose i have a box and i want to move the box in z axis or any axis for that matter .....or lets say i want to pick it from one of the points on lower face to the point right above it.....or maybe any midpoint i am not able to snap to any of the destination points even if i turn on the right snap. try urself Thanks...other replies were helpful
