Hi

This is a project I already finished but I wanted to ask you abouth smth.

See there are reflections of lightsource behind the columns. Why does it do that...the materials are Vray and these are IES lights...I just don't get it...

Don't pay atention to the bad renderings please:D

I can see loads of light leaks everywhere - I think it's all because your irradiance map is very low quality, also your light cache is is very low quality too.

Try it with ir map set to medium/high and change the light cache subdivs back to 1000. Also, if your not doing an animation then change the light cache back to screen. If your doing an animation then check the scale that your've modelled the building - because your light cache sample size is very dependant on this (when set to world).

I know all the above will take longer to render but good quality = longer render times. There's getting away from it!

Also check 'reflective' under the 'indirect illumination' tab (gi caustics).

Yes I know about the light leaks...but my question was about the reflections on the floor of the lights behind the columns. 10x anyway.

My options are very low because I backed the irradiance map which I did with very high settigs. Then for the final render I used the high quality irradiance map but just for previewing I used the low settings. The light cache is low because I had many lights and I ran out of memory on higher values.

Any suggestions about the reflections...

I'm useing 3DSM 7 and Vray 1.47.03

Hello Ruslan! ;o)

Those reflections are coming from your hidden lights ... sounds bad, but it

isn't. Just exclude your ground or anything else, where you don't want those

reflections, at the vray light settings (exclude -> *yourGround* -> illumination).

This should fix your problem. ;o))

Heya Maria,

I have to agree ... he would have to use some other lights to get the same

lighting in this room ... hmmmm. Well I don't know if there is a better way,

but then I would decrease the bumpmap and reduce the reflection on the

ground if they don't fit my needs. Sorry about any confusion. :p:D;)

p.s.: Is there a better way? ?(

take care

Oleg

Thanks a lot for your replies you guys.

I found some solution without excluding the geometry but it's not quite useful.

I found out in the Advanced roll out of the IES lights that there is an option to exclude any specular. It's not quite what I was after but I guess I've messed up some setting in first place....my scene is quite messy:)
