MegaPixel
I'm guessing the reason for this is because I've been screwing around with my System Gamma settings - trying that whole linear workflow thing. When I use distributed rendering, the Buckets rendered by my machine look slightly darker then the other server rendered buckets. Now even though I have set my MAX Gamma/Lut back to normal, the problem is still happening. Can anyone lend a suggestion as to how to correct this? JamesTaylor
do you have different version of vray installed on the different machines?
MegaPixel
No, Vray 1.47.03 is on all of my render servers. Any other ideas?
MegaPixel
OK, I found out what the problem is. My DR Render Slaves can't see all of the materials in my scene so they are calculating bounce colors differntly then my machine is. This brings up a whole new question... What is the best way to repath and/or collect all resources pertaining to my scene and set them up so that all of my render slaves can see them? I tried Archiving my project and unzipping the project files into each render slave but that doesn't seem to be doing it. Thx - Mega
Sascha Berz
Use the "resource collector" of 3dsmax and collect all the maps in one folder. Then delete all your map paths in the "external files" dialog and reopen the scene. Max will prompt you to give a path where the maps are. Give him the new collection folder. Thats it. Resave the scene in the collection folder and copy all the maps to your render nodes. It should help. regards, Sascha
MegaPixel
You Rock Sascha! That was the missing technique I was looking for. Thanks
AJLynn
For this kind of thing, I like to keep all maps and shared stuff in a directory shared on the network and mapped to the same drive latter on all the computers, and from the start use the drive letter in all references - you won't have to do any extra work to make the slaves load the files. In most network environments with XP Pro, the shared directory can be on any of your PCs.
