cdgsean
I just purchased Vray Advanced and when to download it from Chaos, but I'm not sure which build to download. I'm currently using Viz2006, and if I'm not mistaken, I should dowload the max7.x version and NOT the max8.x version. Could someone confirm if that is correct? I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Trevor Tizard
Hi, There have been issues with the latest versions of Vray and Viz 2006. I was advised by chaos to use version 1.46.15 and it works fine. You may have to email them to send it to you direct as it is a slightly older version.
Jason Matthews
The issues involve the mapping using "real world scale" for textures. If you use standard materials for all maps then you will be fine.
Tim Saunders
I did a search on this topic the other day here and on the chaos forms. My Viz 2007 just came in. I haven't installed it yet though. I have been running 1.47.03 I didn't finad any deffinate answers as to the compatibility of those two. Anyone know if I am going to have to use an older version of vray? I sure don't ewant to use standard maps. I'm hooked on the VrayMat.
skogskalle
you should never ever use standard materials... (thay take longer and can cause problem like blotches etc) I think what saturn ment was just that you cant use the "world scale" option when mapping... though I dont use Viz so I might be wrong.. Jason Matthews
That is right skogs...If you use the real world mapping you have to use standard materials. I hate standard materials but I have no choice right now. I use vray materials for anything that does not have an image map attached to it. There is no definite fix right now. Chaos just recieved Viz2007 and are currently testing it as of a couple of weeks ago.
Tim Saunders
So does anyone know if there are problems if you use vray mats, but uvw mapping instead of real world scale? I don't really like the whole real world scale concept anyway as I usually have to position my mapping gizmo to corners and whatnot anway.
Trevor Tizard
I also don't use the real world scale and prefer to position my mats with UVW mapping. Therefore does this mean that there will be no issue with the Vray build I use for Viz (2006 or 2007)?
Tim Saunders
That's my question too. Anyone???
greg.wy
vray adv 1.47.02 does not work with VIZ2006 and 2007 /missing map issue/ no matter what anyone is saying. I am stuck with 2005 and waiting response from Chaos people and version 1.46.15 which should work with VIZ2007 - I hope and there is no straigh answer if the problem is Viz related or Vray related. go figure the only thing to do is to wait cheers Greg
Trevor Tizard
Thanks Greg, Lets hope we get a fix soon!!!!!
Arnel
Any update on this issue if viz 2007 already resolved with later vray build aside from 1.46.15?
Tim Saunders
A buddy of mine who has 2005 and 2007 tried testing rendering with 1.47.03 without using real-world mapping, but plain old uvw mapping. Still doesn't work. I guess we either wait for a fix in 1.5 (hopefully), or get an older version from chaos, or keep using 05. It pisses me off though, because I have my viz07 just sitting there waiting to upgrade my 05. Glad I speant the money.
