Brian Smith
I recommend Irr. for 1st and LC for 2nd. The key is to get test renders to go quickly. Therefore, set the resolution low (i.e. around 320x240), set Irr. to Very Low, and LC subdivs to around 150. In the Color Mapping rollout, set Type to Exponential. Then insert one light and tweak other settings one at a time to figure out their affect on the scene. Then insert other lights one at a time. Any light type, standard, photometric, or vray can be used. Brian

Brian Smith
Looks good...under the Image Sampler rollout, what filter are you using...the default 'Area' filter...if this is for a still try Catmull-Rom, you're image won't be as blury.
Sawyer
No I mean lowering the dark values to .4545 (which is 1/2.2 gamma correction).

Brian Smith
Mmohamed, The image still looks very grainy and blury (like the flowers). I'm wondering what settings you've changed from the default. If I were you, I would start over with the default vray settings by merging everything into a clean drawing. Keep the same settings for the Color Mapping and Environment rollouts. In the Irradiance rollout, change the Current preset to High. After changing the secondary bounce to Light Cache, change subdivs to 2000. In Image sample rollout, change to Fixed rate and 4 Subdivs and filter to Catmull-Rom. Don't change anything else. These settings are quite high but I'm curious to see how much it improves the quality.

Brian Smith
Change your materials to VRay materials, rather than standard. It will clean clean your image up and significantly reduce your rendering times. Right click in the active viewport to open the quad menu and select VRay scene converter.
