Whats the gig then friends?

why did you choose your nickname? some here have so obscure niks i'm almost curious as to where they came from.

STRAT is a fairly obvious one. My main passion in life (other than the mrs STRAT) is playing guitars. mainly Fender Strats. i picked this online nik about 7 or 8 years ago and it's kinda stuck,

whats yours all about?

childhood fascination with a television series from before my time actually. There used to be a series called Ridder Floris 'knight floris' which starred Rutger Hauer (directed by paul verhoeven!), we had video tapes of it and i watched them over and over as a kid.

Now the coolest guy of the series was Sindala, a fakir and magician from the far east, a very cunning man. He was the man with the plan!

So because my first name sometimes just isn't accepted as a username (i wonder why) I chose Floris's faithfull helper.

mine came from a single frame cartoon i saw in a paper once. a guy down on his luck was standing on the street corner. he stood behind his hat, which was on the ground, flipped over for spare change. i can't remember if he was saying anythign or not. he was holding a sign that read, "don't forget to visit my website, crazy homeless guy.com"

the URL was available, but i was dragging my feet. i hadn't bought a domain name before. by the time i finally got around to it 4 months later, a re-seller had picked it up. it isn't even hosted anywhere. ....although i just checked it, and it expires next month. maybe it will become available.

anyway, the name has stuck with me ever since.

i have received a private message on the chaos group message board from another user telling me it was offensive, and demanding i change it.

I am so glad! I had visions of you trying to work out of a cardboard box in an alleyway off of Main St!

That sounds like a good cartoon - worthy of Gary Larson, but I think he must have retired before the web came into it's heyday.

Mine is boring, a combination of my initials, DM, and my preferred app, C4D.

I've never had a nickname in my life - heck, I don't even have a middle name - (we were too poor, as my identically named American uncle always says....)

Cheers,

D,

WAD - Just doesn't work

BJ as I'm a junior -just doesn't sound right

WDA - Had a friend back in High School, she always called me WDA. Era of Dallas the TV Show and of course she was from Texas. You know that land where everybody uses initials... GW kind of thing LOL

More recently a typo creating a username (that can't easliy be changed) has led to 'Wax' walexander (correct) waxexander (obviously incorrect) LOL

Never thought of it that one myself. Maybe DF would be a good one too ;). The individual who coined 'Wax' for me posted a response to some reference images I posted. Happened to be spraying Laquer and caught some really cool reflection/specular shots of drawer fronts, his response was 'Cool wax'. Could cut both ways. I took it as cool finish on the drawer fronts. Think he was palyin' with me LOL Well it stuck.

LOL Now I can 'Wax' images and 'Wax philosophic' and 'Wax floors' to pay the Bills when Waxing images doesn't, philosophy certianly never will ;)

Cheers

Call me anythinng you want, just not late for supper or free free drinks ;)

I froze my ears walkin home from the bar (thats a Pub strat, except they're open past 10). After the frostbite my ears started peeling and were all groddy, so Frostbite it was. The nick later got shortened to Frosty.
