soulctrla
This Is The Post Of The Decade Thank You Guys!!!!!!!!!!!!! tee hee hee -- im touched you think so !!! Enjoy- As far as wrong IES File for the fitting. I wouldnt get to caught up about that. i agree on the lens flare comment - i dispise that effect. I do however feel that if the ies file gives you the "right" effect it doesnt have to be 100% accurate.
FlytE
I dont mean to be disrespectful about it but I always find it funny when i see images of buildings that have lens flares at the top corner of them, like they are reflecting the sun or something. On the other hand I really love using the 105 mm lens flare (the white one) As I think that it can be very useful for blooming and certain intense light sources. On the other hand I really love using the 105 mm lens flare (the white one) As I think that it can be very useful for blooming and certain intense light sources. that is the only lens flare i use, and i typically use it round 10-14%, dependng on how it is positioned in the scene. usually on mr16 pendant lights. i also dupe the layer before i place then, then use the eraser to delete extra flare information besides the hotspot. also, ...a helpful tip for those who don't know it, if you hold down the ALT button, then click where you want the lensflare to be, it will prompt you for a pixel input. this allows you to precisely place the flare, rather than guess work. ..but i am using these to replace glare, rather than to replicate lens flare. FlytE
Hey i didnt know that, I will try that next time. As much as I love PS and think the developers have made a great piece of software, there are parts of it i hate and the lens flare dialogue (as well as the lighting effects dialogue) are just awful. Why they couldnt provide you with a bigger preview window i dont know, but i do remember reading that one of the head honchos at adobe was quoted to have said that they werent particularly proud of the lensflare and lighting effects system that was currently in place. Maybe we can expect an improvement down the line.
Justin Hunt
There's also the trick of puting the LF on a "Nutral" layer in PS, makes it easier to scale, place and duplicate JHV

Justin Hunt
Create a new layer through the drop down menu. Set the layer to Screen and the fill with natural colour switch to be on. Make the lens flare as normal. The flare will be on a layer of its own that can be manipulated as any other layer, Changing scale, possision, transparancy etc. JHV

It is more subtle and creates a warming effect to the glow.... Used for glow around bulbs in attached image....
