Hello I'm working on a home I don't post much, but I've seen some people on here do test on models for lighting. Anyone please c.c. I'd like to know of anyway to make it more realistic. I will keep posting with my progress. Thanks in advance.

Heres an update real rough settings are low Samples are 1 to 1. I have FG 100 samples on but set with Preview(no Precals), no GI just MR area spot and Skylight. Any CC would be helpful. This is a big house so I think i will do the rest of the foliage like flowers and hedges in photoshop. Thanks

  • 2 weeks later...

does look very cool, mental ray can be very good outdoors and this image shows that. Not sure if your at the stage of thinking what to do camera angle wise but if I were you I would make the camera higher and angle it down some. I realise that your trying to show the whole complex but there is too much sky in this image.

nice work though

Atom, looks great. I like how you composited everything. I've been working on getting mental ray just right over the last couple days and wanted to ask if you had any tips on lighting. what kind of setting did you use. did you play mostly with the Environment settings, GI in mental ray, or the daylight system or do you use all of them in combination with eachother?

what settings did you find worked best for you?

Thanks for your insight, I dig your work.

Michael

So this is the fabled village of Mental Ray. Is it just next to Vray town?

Only joking. To me it looks promising if a bit dull. Can you up the sunlight or is it your intention to have the the lighting look uniform?

The first render is my favourite composition but I don't understand why you cropped the bottom of the image off. I thought my browser had stopped downloading!
