File Import or Xref

Question for MAX users.

I model in formz and dwg out .

Now on a large scale model should I

1. File import all the seperate Models in, and build up the over all model with file imports, as they will be updated on a ongoing basis, so reloading the model ffrom Formz is handy.

or

2. Should I import each model in texture it, and then x ref it all in together for final rendering.

What do you do.

Project is a large scale shopping complex with 5 large seperate shops, with site car parking .

Thank you in advance.

After working on many large residential sites using adt and 3dsmax, the best way to with max is creating separate house scenes built in an orthoginal location, texture them as usual, and then xref scene into a master site scene, which includes your light environment and use a dummy object to bind the xrefs x,y,z and rotation.

hope this helps
