As requested in another thread here is my troublesome WIP (very much a WIP!). Im sorry i cannot give a bigger clearer image, as im having real problems rendering this out in reasonable times due to the number of lights and blurred reflections.

yes they are all either recessed or hidden sources. The fixtures are there but they will need magic'd up in PS

4 vray planes ( internal central soffit)

4 vray planes (central soffit edges)

1 vray plane (uplighting central soffit)

1 vray plane (downlighting lobby)

2 vray planes (1st floor level)

1 vray plane (2nd floor level)

12 ies spotlights+vray shadows lining lobby sides (inc behind desk)

12 ies spotlights in ceiling at back lifts

4 ies spots in the centre soffit

1 vray sphere behind the camera

Previous to this list there were about 20 more lights that i have since removed to help speed things up a bit. I have also taken some of the materials (which had subdivisions as high as 50) back down to 8 subdivisions....

All those lights and sub-divs of 50 won't help much..

Are you going to be doing lots of internal shots of the space.?? i only ask, as maybe it would be possible to change some of the lights that are hidden away to something more basic..maybe same with the materials as well.. say cut those sub divs down to 4 even?

Are all your Vray lights casting area shadows as well..??

nope just the shot you see.... as for the area lights, the door way sphere light definitely is but as best as i can remember the rest arent. Saying that though, i dont know if ies files have something coded in which casts area shadows...

Hmmm.. Not sure..

Let us know how long it takes to render now, with new settings..

On the Vray lights, someone was telling me that you should try upping the samples to say 16, and try tht as well.. for all of your Vray lights..

Gotta go now.. back tomorrow..!

Even though you are using ies files, you still have access to the shadow type and perameters. There is nothing really different from an ies light and stock photometric lights, except for the shape of the light itself which makes it cast the light differently. What kind of rendering time did you have with the small sample you posted?
