dvmorris
i have an autocad drawing that is unitless, but the units are meters as far as i can tell (tree trunks are about .3 in diameter). I imported it into viz, and i'm trying to place the sample bionatics trees, but they are gigantic. are bionatics trees in different units by default, or do you have to set the world units in viz first, or is there something i'm missing about scale conversion here? thanks for the help, dave
dvmorris
ok, so i found out that i can change the units to meters after importing, and then place a tree, like the horse chestnut, but at 7 growth units, it places the tree with a diameter of almost 2 meters. that seems absurd for a small tree like that. any ideas? dvmorris
i found the difference in scale factor to be 35.023474178403755868544600938967 what does that mean? why would it be so arbitrary?
Conor Clancy
David, I feel your pain, but there is an easy way of setting the scale in autocad. Unfortunatly, I cannot remember what it is, as I am not a cad user, and the last time I had to do this was about 3 years ago when I recieved architectural drawings as PDF files. Thatw as annoying. dvmorris
someone on the autodesk forums told me to simply check rescale in the viz import dialog, and it worked beautifully... but now i have another problem, with the drawing being centered 1000000 meters to the right... it's giving me serious problems... so i just moved the whole thing to the origin. but now if i want to import multiple things later on, i have to move all those cad drawings... kind of a pain...
