ktm07
Hey all! I am new to 3DS Max & VRay (only my second image) but have been doing CG work with other software for several years. This is still a work-in-progress and would appreciate any input you could provide to make this image better. Thanks! Tom
Brian Smith
Hi Tom, What AA filter are you using? Doesn't seem as sharp or crisp as it should. Have you tried Catmull-Rom? Also, is your brick bump map a good grayscale image? Perhaps you could post it.
ktm07
I used Mitchell-Netravali AA for this image. I have used the Catmull-Rom and I find it to be too harsh/sharp. I tend to prefer a softer image. The bump map definitely had issues! I took it into Photoshop and adjusted the contrast and brightness. I also increased the amount of bump in max. I think it has improved the image quality. Tom
mahorela
a very good first image, I'm also a fan of catmull rom and think that mitchell netravali is too blurred but I've heard that artists like Zuliban use it and his work makes mine look like a cartoon!!! image is a bit dark for my liking even if you are going for the moody look, but thats just my opinion nice going:)
ktm07
image is a bit dark for my liking even if you are going for the moody look, but thats just my opinion I've done a bit of adjustment on the brightness and the contrast. I keep forgetting that my LCD monitors run a little on the bright side... Do you think this works better? I'll be posting another view here shortly. Thanks!
