Rendering error

"Bitmap Filter Error"

Failed to allocate filter tables for this bitmap. Not memory. This bitmap may render incorrectly. Subsequent errors will not be reported.

Anyone had this error before? It seems to be an RPC problem. The GI calculates fine and if the RPCs are swithched off it renders fine. Its alway a different bitmap flagged in the error. Unfortunately, the RPCs are an important part of this animation.

Its a Max scene (1million+polys) which renders in vray in about 4mins on a dual xeon. 2 gigs ram.

Ive excluded the rpcs from the GI, beyond that i dont know how to fix it.

Any help much appreciated, deadline looms.

Thanks,

Tom.

alright tom!

it may be a memory issue, i think i'm right in that with a dual processor setup (same with dual core) each one is assigned its own ram, i.e 1gig per processor. on that size scene i'd guess 1gig of ram is being maxed out.

if its a case of deadlines how about two passes and composition them together in p'shop.

maybe someone else will confirm ram assignment in relation to dual processors.

Cheers James, Im fairly sure its a ram issue too, but just cant get around it. Comping is kinda tricky as its a long animation and we keep changing geometry so we'd have to re-render the mattes as well. Bit of a bummer. I'd rather mess with the settings till it pulls through. Ive seen scenes with a billion polygons render on slower machines than mine so im not giving up yet!
