Z Depth info with opacity maps??

I'm using speedtree for vegatation in my renders and have begun rendering out to .rpf file which include z depth info. However the z depth info does not take into account the opacity maps used by speedtree and instead calculates teh z depth of the entire polygon meaning i still have to fudge effects, does anyone know how to get around this??

 

if it makes a differnce, i'm rendering with vray but not using the vray g-buffer to access the z depth info......
