skala67
could you explain a little of what a technologist does? I had never heard of it before.
wk_0102
An architectural technologist assists architects in the development of architectural designs. They are primarily concerned with the technological aspects of building design and construction. They produce the working drawings with AutoCAD, analyze building codes, by-laws, site requirements, etc...They can also do some 3D-renderings (although this will likely not devote themselves to this full-time). Hope this helps.. and hope that someone can still answer my original question~ Thanks again.

IC
In the UK the Architects Journal publishes a salary survey which is a relatively accurate guide but I've always found it varies a huge amount depending upon the employer and the employee. If you were to ring a few local practices, I'm sure they'd be happy to help a student.
soulctrla
in the Uk - i see technicians (technologists) cad monkeys etc being advertised for all the time. we need a technician in our office - ideally someone who is not just a CAD monkey - but someone who knows regs - someone with design flair too - not just an uninspired fool. Technicians in the magazines can earn anywhere between £7-8 / hour through to £40 per hour. they generally get better rates if on contract. Its so varied.. - depends on experience (which you have very little) and how good you are.... With time you can expect to earn more - you can also expect to spend a fair amount of time building your experience on a lower wage than other similarly qualified chaps. Give it time - learn learn learn and when you look up and think your done go learn some more. Its a competitive work place. Experience is vital -
wk_0102
Thanks for your answers. But I'm really looking for salary ranges in in Toronto (Canada) area. Not UK. If anyone is from Canada and respond to my original messege, that would be really helpful. Thanks again.
