3dsmax V vray

Please help, i am trying to enhance out current visuals which are created in max/photoshop, by using the vray renderer. I have reached a dead end with the vray image. I attach the preset from vray. I have looked at mainly the glass reflections and the red brick (which i have had to increase contrast on the bitmap and lower the blur, is this normal?). All the other materials are from max.

The scene also has a vraylight (sphere) u size 2500mm, multi 3.0, colour 254,232,204.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

regards

David

You don't have far to go. First thing I would do is find a better (greener) grass texture and add the VRayDisplaceMod modifier (2D - play around with precision and resolution), find a better brick texture and add a bump map to it. I would then use a Direct Target light with VRay shadows and add a 2nd light, a VRay light (dome with 20 subdivs). I don't know why you would be playing with the Blur setting here.

You might want to try increasing the antialiasing to clean up the roof lines too, maybe Adap Sub with a Min rate of +1.

I would definitely add some trees to pretty it up and to add a little more realism.

I agree with Brian, your grass could use some work. The vray displacement is a really nice feature that looks great. The trees behind the house look fairly weak...and the placement looks like they are just trying to hid the emptiness behind them. The pavement in the foreground is a little too clean for my taste as well.

The glass looks good, especially with the curtains behind it...adds depth.

For some good free trees/plants look here: http://web.inf.tu-dresden.de/ST2/cg/downloads/publicplants/

They are high poly, quality stuff.

As far as the brick goes, I'd download a masonry designer. You can save high resolution images of quality bricks...change the mortar color, add soldier coursing, whatever. http://www.beldenbrick.com/md_page.htm

I think I know what you mean about the blur...max's default texture (bitmap)blur is set to 1.0 right? Taking it down as far as it will go will increase the clarity of the texture. You can also sharpen the finished rendering in Photoshop too.

In the first image I'd rotate the sun so the wall on the left is in shadow. This will add contrast to the image and downplay that plain wall. It should also increase the ammount of contrast/shadows for you're plants in the foreground...they look flat as is. Right now the sun seems to be directly behind the camera so a lot of stuff is really evenly lit.

Overall you've got a nice image that is close to being fantastic.
