HELP!

I'm new to this board, hoping someone can help - I'm looking for RPC people, specifically fashion models for use in 3D studio max. We've purchased 3D people over the years, and have quite a collection but now we need fashion models for a proposal...I know I've seen them in other renderings.

Anyone know where I could find some hot fashion models?

they don't need to be animated. and i'm not looking for Cara Loft here, just some simple RPC models (HIGH-RES would be great).

thanks for any tips you can give!

cheers - sam

Hi Sam,

RPC (Rich Photo Realistic Content) is a proprietary format for displaying image based content. This format was developed and is sold by ArchVision. It has many advantages over a simple image with alpha channel.

Clipmaps, billboards, textures etc are simple photos with alpha channels of things like people, trees etc.

While they both have the same end result, they are indeed quite different.

ArchVision has many collections of RPC people, but currently no high fashion models. We can do custom shoots if you do need the flexibility of RPCs. Let me know and I can put you in touch with the right person there.

I don't know of any commercial people collection off hand that feature high fashion models, but I do know several of the larger firms do their own custom photoshoots and they might have something they could sell to you. You'd have to contact them directly.

thanks Jeff,

That was helpful information. Without a doubt, I can guess we don't have the budget for creating custom RPC's. I'm attaching some renderings from karimrashid.com that show what I thought were 3D fashion models, but could also have been added later in Photoshop.

I think that's the direction we're going to take, esp since this is for a proposal due in the next few weeks.

Thanks again for your help!

You could contact the company for which you are developing the proposal and see if you can use their own content....

We did a fashion accessory store at one of my previous firms, which was going to be a new Charles David store. Charles David is the fashion line for GUESS under which they sell shoes bags and stuff..... anyhoo we got their permission to scan images out of a GUESS catalogue for comping into the shots....

maybe that could be an option to you.... depending on the company how big it is and if a reference such as a catalogue, press release or other marketing info is available.

followup.... if thats all you're after you could pick though the RPC libraries and find some that probably suit you.... I think you can still purchase models as singles or bundles....

some that might work for you... "julie", "lindsey"

or college student library...

Rock on. Just forwarded the info on to our team, I'm liking Julie. Maybe I'll post the final renderings in the crit board when we're done...

thanks!

Buy some fashion magazines... and a scanner, and get to work!

especially catalogs where the whole person is shown work well

seriously, I did this several years ago, and still use them.

Those Karimrashid images look just like that

never assume. i AM a hot fashion model.

Reshoot that with better lighting and use it, then you don't have to pay anybody for permission :)

Seriously though - the photo comps you showed aren't actually very sophisticated, if that's what you want you don't need RPCs, you just need photos of well-dressed women that you can comp in with Photoshop.

Be careful of scanning magazines and other things that are owned by other people and companies - you can't legally use this stuff without permission, except for maybe not-for-publication student work.
