Barret N.
I'm in the middle of a big design project, and we just noticed now that the original info we were sent by the client has a Z factor (in Auto CAD). So all of the proceeding work we have done has the Z factor spreading fast... This is no good for the final area calculations and such. If there is way to flatten the entire file (incl. blocks) please help. And ive tried using flatten.... it dose not work. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you. __________________________ Barret Nilsen EyeSee Media / blvd international inc. www.eyeseemedia.com

Brian Smith
To flatten all plines, lines, arc, circles and ellipses, highlight all the linework in your scene, open the Properties window, click the drop-down menu, select each object type one-by-by and change the Z setting within the Properties window. It only takes a few seconds to do. As for the blocks, if you don't have too many different types it's quick also. Get into the each individual block with the RefEdit command, and do the same thing I just mentioned with each line, arc, etc. Save the block and all of the same blocks will update. antonio_frias
If you have blocks in your drawing, don't use the flatten command! It changes each block into an individual entity. For exemple if you have a block named "A" inserted 10 times into your drawing it will create 10 blocks named A-flat-1, A-flat-2, A-flat-3 etc... alekzab
i had the same problem when i try to migrate civil drawing data to GIS. i tried flattening the whole andit turn out to be a hefty operation on the software. so what i did is i did it to small segments and it work fine. MrCAD
you can even try out this option ..converting to a .dxb file format text from the help file "DXB (drawing interchange binary) file formats are supported using the DXB nonsystem file driver. This is commonly used to "flatten" 3D drawings to 2D" This will flatten vectors in any ucs plane which is more useful in the longer run where you need your elevations to become flattened plans. good luck, Meher http://www.mr-cad.com
