dwyatt
Although it's not up to me to say so, Johny_quick has posted a scene for all Kray enthusiasts to light and set up. You can see the thread at http://www.kraytracing.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=170 and you can download the demo from http://www.kraytracing.com/index.php?subpage=1. I'm just so happy with Kray for archvis, that I thought you should give it a shot. God knows I'm buying into Kray soon enough...
Lizard Head
I would believe this would be a great idea,, but, IMHO, Kray still needs to come along in rendering and image quality before it is useful in professional applications. dont get me wrong,, this isnt a jab,, KRAY is top on my list to buy,,,, but someday,, not just yet.. I will wait till I like what I see

To tell the truth I had never heard of kray till just now,( I'm a Max user), so I went over to their site, and had a look in their gallery section, and I have to say there is some nice stuff there, can you elaborate on why you think it needs more work, is it really hard to use, or does it take forever to render etc ?? Lizard Head
I have noticed obvious artifacts in area shadows in areas where one plane intersects another ( wall to floor, etc etc) ( could just be lazy modeling as well) and the radiosity solution produces G.I. that is untrue in obvious areas.. again,, this is all just my opinion. if you are a MAX user then KRAY is to LW what VRAY is to max... though VRAY is further along in development and it is far more superior at this time. but I am sure KRAY will get there someday. dwyatt
Of course, you're right to say that there's still a lot of development left to go, but I'd say that quality vs. time is quite good at the time. The artifacts you notice are normally due to insufficient Final Gather rays, or photon leaks, which can be fixed applying the 'thin geometry distance' switch, which path-traces those areas. Anyhow, next major update is going to include multithreading, along with other improvements. Network rendering is on the immediate to-do list also. I'd say that for $380, it's quite an impresive solution. I'm enjoying playing with the demo for sure. You should give it a shot, if you have time. I'd be pleased to help you with your settings if you need so. Cheers, Dan.
