mlgraham
My grass never really looks how I want it. I am an architect who uses Viz 2005. I usually make my terrains with a simple box that I turn into a mesh etc and make the vallyes/hills or whatever. Is this a good method? I use a grass jpeg bump and diffuse map but it always looks weird. Just wondering if there is a better way. Peace
Devin Johnston
The best way I've found to make grass in Max is to use procedurals like noise and cellular to create a random texture. You’re render times will increase a bit using this method but it doesn’t look as bad as a tiled bitmap.
mlgraham
I'll try that. Thanks man. That grass in yours looks real good.
pen duick
I got a couple of the grass varieties with EASYnat. The "age" feature allow you to control the grass size in an area. You can try. http://www.bionatics.com/Site/product/nursery/category.php3?Community=2&ProductLineId=10&Category=12&page=5 Sample: http://www.bionatics.com/VisuelsSpecifiques/Bionatics/Plant/Zoom/herbe_b.jpg Eric

brianzajac
Here's a post I made yesterday. The grass turned out perfect I think. It was VRay Fur. http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/17573-hows-vray-grass-colors.html

3dmaniac666
Are you just putting a bitmap in the displacement? Or are you creating a procedural map. I'm using MAx 8 w/o Vray...well because I am pretty new to Max and still trying to figure some things out before i get into the more advanced stuff. cyberarchi
to ecastillor somehow offtopic, but how do you make those lines on the ground(i mean parking,....) , are they simple surfaces or textures?
