Good morning gurus of Vray,

i have been working on the attached image. I have try so many water style and I am happy with the one in the image now... I think!....

Unfortunatly, because of the angle of the camera and the grass going in the water.. my blue water is turning black intead than blue. is any of you could point me in the right direction to achieve a dark blue colour for this water please?

It actually looks natural to me as a dark bottom pond should look especially at the glancing angle it is viewed at. Is this shot from an animation or still? If Still, perhaps a material or object ID isolation of just the water will allow you to make further adjustments to it. I use the PSD manager for this but you should be able to get an isolation from the Vray G-buffer which I have not used yet.

How's your sky set up? If you just have a plane in the background I think it will be harder to get a blue out of the water. If you added a skydome, the water should reflect the blue like in the real world. It looks like your water might be reflecting a black environment...

maybe take some of the ripple out. this is a guess, but i think your boss thinks it should reflect the sky. it is not going to reflect the sky from your viewing angle, it is going to reflect the building. if you take some ripple out, the building will be a sharper reflection in the water, and may give them what they think they should have, regardless of whether it is right or not, and without adding fake blue dye to the water.

I had the same problem on a render, I didn't want it pure blue.... but I did want to lighten it a little so it didn't look like a pond full of oil. So I ended up building a thin "pond liner" to go beneath the water that I could color a light white/blue. That way when the water refracts down it returns the light color and it brightened up the water to the level that I wanted....

I handed up doing the same in the end. the colour turn a little bit more blue. I got the ideas while going to the scottish parlement last week; There is a small pond there and to get the water not black they painted the bottom of the pond in light blue blue.... so i ended up doing the same and it seems to work! thank you for your help!

Well yes

Water has no color. It reflects the sky and refracts the bottom. Thats why all the swimming pools are with light colored bottom so the water will appear cleaner. If you've seen a lake or sea or anything like that you will notice that the color change according to the athmospheric conditions and when it rains, the water appears to be black.

Your bosses should know that if they are going to build a swimming pool with black bottom they will never get nice blue water;)
