Ceiling Inset Lights

I see alot of interiors done with the inset lighting in the ceilings.. the circular inset ones with maybe a nice halogen look to it..

My question is: How do you make them? I'm racking my brain!

Thanks to anyone who may be able to help.

Yeah.. you're probably right.

I got this link from this site.. it shows similar to what Im talking about.. only they are square in his interior.

Thanks alot.

Those are probably just 2 flat planes - one with self illumination set at 100, and the other as gray. Or it's 1 plane that has had a boolean cut in the center. I make nearly all of my recessed fixtures in the same way.

Here's an example. Just added a bit of glow in Photoshop. ;)

Thats very informative and thanks alot. So then is it the same technique for the round ones too?

Yah, the same!

Nearly all reveals can be made the same way. A simple plane. I used to painstakingly model my lights and reveals - until I realized that none of my views were close enough to really see the detail anyway.
