3DwannaBE
I see alot of interiors done with the inset lighting in the ceilings.. the circular inset ones with maybe a nice halogen look to it.. My question is: How do you make them? I'm racking my brain! Thanks to anyone who may be able to help.
ipdesigner
*i think it would be clear if you could show ref photo of lighting you are referring to:)

Those are probably just 2 flat planes - one with self illumination set at 100, and the other as gray. Or it's 1 plane that has had a boolean cut in the center. I make nearly all of my recessed fixtures in the same way. Here's an example. Just added a bit of glow in Photoshop.
3DwannaBE
Thats very informative and thanks alot. So then is it the same technique for the round ones too?
landrvr1
Thats very informative and thanks alot. So then is it the same technique for the round ones too? Yah, the same! Nearly all reveals can be made the same way. A simple plane. I used to painstakingly model my lights and reveals - until I realized that none of my views were close enough to really see the detail anyway. 3DwannaBE
Sounds great.. do you think you could show me an example to get me on the right track? I undestand what you mean by using a plane but the other part within it is confusing me. Thanks again for the advice.
