Devin Johnston
I'm working with a model that has a hilly terrain and I'm trying to create a road that matches it. Is there an easy way to do this with a plug-in or something like that?
Ray
You can try the shapemerge modifier. I haven't had the best luck with it, but maybe my terrain is too large for my computer to handle.
Ricardo Eloy
Itoo Soft had this nice little plug called Glue. It could conform a spline to a terrain in no time. Maybe could help you. But I've always worked with ShapeMerge and it always worked. Here it is: http://www.itoosoft.com/english/menu.php?id=glue

Brian Cassil
I always use booleans or shape-merge for this. Glue certainly has it's uses but I've found it doesn't conform to the terrain quite accurately enough.
klaas nienhuis
I would use a patchdeform or surfdeform modifier. Make sure the terrain is a plane converted to patch (for the patchdeform) or a nurbs-surface (for the surfdeform). Then make sure your road has enough vertices to follow the terrain smoothly. Use the patchdeform (WSM) modifier to easily deform and move the road to the terrain. You can also deform a group (road, stripes, ...) to the terrain, but then you can't use the WSM modifier but the normal one. That one is a bit more tricky to position. It's very flexible: disable the deform mod and edit the road in topview orthogonally. Or modifiy the terrain and the road sticks to it like glue.
