Currently I am using Vray (I like gi) for my exterior rendering instead of Brazil/ Raytrace , but I am facing a problem images have no contrast shadows are transparent / light - but my client and art director always refuse that effects. (Some time I could convince them using adobe photoshop) – they need more contrast which we could produce earlier using Brazil/ raytrace – can anyone give me a better solution.

Look at the image - fade need more contrust

Its hard to say without seeing the settings you currently have etc.

Try setting your secondary bounces to 0.8, also consider using decay on your lighting, then increase its multiplier to bring it back up to the correct brightness again.

Also, you can use the frame buffer to give a more accurate post-processed contrast.

In viz to customize/preferences, then the gamma tab, and then change your gamme to 1.8. Once you have done this go to your frame buffer section in your vray rendering panel. Tick the box that says 'enable frame buffer'.

Render out an image in the frame buffer and click on the bottom left button. You will then see a graph with a line. Click on the bottom point and adjust the curve so that it rises more steeply and levels back off again. Then right click on the upper point and select 'reset tangents'

Close this and if you look at the other buttons in the frame buffer there should be one called 'enable curve correction'. Make sure that is selected and it will apply the change in contrast that you just created using your curve. Now when you render out your images they should have a bit more contrast, you can also keep adjusting that curve in order to tweak it to the level of contrast that you want.

This is called linear workspace and helps balance out the innaccurate display that standard monitors show, and will give your render more depth.

**Edit**

Sorry I just remembered, that in order for that to work correctly, you must go into your g-buffer section in the vray renderer, and UNCHECK 'clamp output'

Good luck!

your shadows look overdark too me... at least the ones inside the balconies. Lowering your secondary bounces isnt' going to give you the desired contrast you're after. IMO you need more bounces to get more light into the recesses.

I would lower your GI multiplier so that you're scene isn't so illuminated and then pump up the value on your sunlight. That will give you a higher contrast level between the sunside of the building vs. the non-sun facing side.

I also bump the contrast slider on the GI rollout a little sometimes, be be warned its pretty sensitive, I've never moved it more than .1
