First Room Attempt - C + C.

Hey guys... my first post here! :D I'm just getting into interior design in 3D for the first time, and thus this is my first attempt at a (hopefully by the time I'm done it'll be photo-real) room in 3D.

I'm just using the default scan line renderer, as I more familiar with it's lighting and materials then V-ray (which I attempt if I do some more architectual projects).

I have lots of stuff to fix, I just started. Unfortuneatly, the actual architecture in my room is very, very, boring. A choice I am now regretting, but I had no idea how much difficulty I would have with lighting. I'm just winging this project entirely. :)

A few things I've noticed and still have to fix are:

- Foosball rods too small (I believe.. or the handles are too big or something)

- Comparitve to foosball table couch may be a little large

- My attempt at a contemporary shelf (with the wood behind it) is a massive failure, I will attempt to replace it with a fish tank (woo!).

- Some lighting tweaks, mostly around the foosball table area.

- Floor may be too reflective?

- Forgot about the door handle. :)

- More lights to add, but area around the windows should be a lot brighter... doesn't really give off "bright day" impression.

Anyways, comment or crit it up! Follow along with my progress if you'd like, as I tend to update frequently.

Yeah, I may have to break out the v-ray here if I don't find a lighting solution I like with the default scanline. :p

I've redone all of the lighting because I wasn't too pleased with the above solution. Don't know if this one will be much better... it is much cleaner though, way less lights. Stand by for a render.

I reply fast because every time someone replies to anything I post here MSN pops up saying I have a new e-mail from CG architect. :D

Edit:

Lighting completely redone, much more flexible now. Still using default scanline render.

I like the raytracing on the players. I think they look great! The box and legs themselves however could definitely use a few tweaks... the lighting makes them look awfully flat. The handles and rods are temps btw, thats why they look awful. I'll be re-doing all that shortly here, and adding a score-keeper thing. I also managed to do a particularly bad mimicry of that lighting effect with the over-bright windows. :)

Ah well, it's a learning experience! :D

In a rush to start a project with some more architectual attributes. A square room gets boring. :)

Already ??

I'd encourage you to keep this project in your back pocket and tweak a little here and there. You may find the delicacy required by the intimate scale of a single room a great compliment to a multistory high-rise, glass clad office tower to which gets old quick in its own right : )

Well, I'll keep all those words of wisdom in mind. :)

Anyways, I have decided to scrap that project and start another, which is progressing much faster, with much more pleasing results, using V-ray.

Bewareeee the FLOATING FOOSBALL TABLE!!

I won't bother making another post, I'll just keep my works in this one for now, as to not disrupt the forums "chi". :)

Yes. The chamfer tool is very usefull and you should try it out. Also I think you're overdoing the reflections. Personaly I haven't seen so reflective floor in the real world. As the rendering I think your exterior light is way too bright. The way I light up a scene is to use for start an image based lighting and than I start to add artificial lights. For a day scene I use only one artificial light as a sun scince this is how a room is usually lit in real life.

Yeah, I got the chamfer tool covered. I made the couch quickly using chamfer and turbo smooth. I'll get around to chamfering those edges on the foosball table right away.

I dimmed the sunlight down a lot as well... looks much better.

I'll try to lessen reflection on the floor as well.

Thanks for the input guys. :)
