Trevor Tizard
Not as far as I know.........doesn't work with xrefs either........! Has become a real pain that is often debated, but no sign of a fix yet.
antonio_frias
Yes it is, I do it all the time. What you have to do is create a block with an atribute. Take a look at the file I attached.
TheAllusionisst
The command you want to toggle is 'mirrtext' in Acad/ADT it is an on off setting 0 or
1eo
antonio_frias, your solution works... although, if the block is inside a mirrored xref, then it won't work however, how do create a block "atribute"? atlease it will fix some of my problems
antonio_frias
Russel, MIRRTEXT won't work if the text is part of the block! That is why you have to create a block with an attributes for the text to mirror! However my solution doesn't work with xrefs because the block will be a block inside a block(xref)
antonio_frias
Leonardo, Try out these turtorials I found on the net: http://www.tutorialized.com/tutorial/Creating-Attributes-for-Blocks/6061 http://www.autodesk.de/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=2397959&linkID=2475176 http://www.roseindia.net/software-tutorials/detail/12469 If it doesn't help there are many others, just do a Google search
bigroo
It's always useful to keep the attributed text on a separate layer when making the block.
1eo
Just wondering.... (The senior architects at my office don't use autocad and I'm the only one that has a little clue of how to use it ) How do people do when they have a multy unit building where some of the units are mirrors of others. I want to have the benefit of a block or Xref, and at the same time I want to have the benefits of being able to read all the notes Thanks a lot & Regards leo
antonio_frias
To tell you the truth, I never use Xref's. I don't think they work very good. They're too much trouble. But that's my personel opinion, I know of alot of people that use them and think that they are great.
TheAllusionisst
Russel, MIRRTEXT won't work if the text is part of the block! That is why you have to create a block with an attributes for the text to mirror! However my solution doesn't work with xrefs because the block will be a block inside a block(xref) Correct, but proper setup of blocks with text is for them to be attributes and on their own layer. Might not make a lot of sense for just room tags, but good practice especially if you use blocks for items like fixtures and equipment where some views/plans you don't want the text/tags to display In addition (mirrtext) it is the basic command that controls text mirroring, so providing that information allows us to trouble shoot further. Xrefs, won't enter into that discussion, so many people use them poorly, but if you are doing a multi-story building in ADT, how else can you display all the stories without the AEC objects trying to auto clean up with the floors above and below without setting up numerous interaction rules. Perhaps newer versions of ADT have resolved this problem?
