NOOXY
hello guys really need your help here...my aspire 1804swmi lamptop screen recenctly lost its back light and now i just have it hooked up on an old 15" crt monitor.( that sucks)...unfortunatle i can't get it repaired as my warranty is over and i'm located all the way in the caribbean. To replace the entire lcd is $600 us...ouch: I'm thinking of getting a new 19" lcd monitor altogether and forget about fixing my laptop screen...well might do that later. my question to uall is i've checked out a few of them already but my budget is for a 19" lcd around 250 us max..i'm deciding to get a acer brand( how ironic) so just wanted uall thougts on what specs is hould be considering.. what i've found so far are the ACER 1916AB 19" ANS THE ACER AL 1952 19"...ANY THOUGHTS or sugesstions of what lcds are best for renderings and graphic imagery thanks in advance. AJLynn
My advice would be to not get attached to one brand - except at the high end, these things are almost commodity products. Go by specs and user reviews, and shop around, I guess the specifics would have a lot to do with the market and what's available in your country. pailhead
Just don't try to repair or upgrade anything on a laptop on your cost, no matter which one, it just makes more sense to buy a new one.

I had 3 Dells in a row and bought case plastic parts, DVD drives, batteries, fans and things like that all the time. (I have bad luck with Dells.) If I'd had to replace an LCD I'm sure I could have got the part and done it myself for a lot less than an out-of-warranty repair.
