Dario Arnaez
Hi everyone! I have a question. I'm doing a 3d view of my backyard. I put a swimming pool but the water look like oil instead clean water. How must I do? I compare my render with a picture of a magazine and the difference is notorious. Look. I know that perspective is different. I have a HDRI like environment and two DLights. Thiago de Andrade
I don't know what shader you're using, but you will probably have to change the diffuse color of the water (to white, light grey or light blue), and perhaps add a little more reflection so that the water surface reflects the HDRI sky. Dario Arnaez
Ok. I was looking for in other forums for a good answer to your question "what shader I'm using". I see that I feel like a newbie 'cause I don't know what mean that word. I'm using 3DMax and Vray. This is the parameters for the water. I put a gradient in the "refract" slot for to do the deep effect. I hope your opinions about this. Also, let to thank you your help. I gave a bright color to the "diffuse" slot and now it look better... but now I looking for something more real... like in the picture.
Trevor Tizard
If you make th inside of the pool light blue below the water level this will help!
Joseph Petrino
Dont let the water object cast a shadow and your water will clear up a lot.
Ricardo Eloy
Maybe the problem is in your refraction. Try it simple. Just crank it up all white, no maps. Also, turn "cast shadows" off. One thing I do a lot is letting the geometry do all the rippling and waving, instead of using a bump map. Makes the whole effect more believeble, imo. BunGHoLe
I agree with Trevor Tizard. Just paint the bottom of the pool blue and all of your problems will be solved. The material you use is by my oppinion good and you should not change it.
AJLynn
You'll also want something to reflect, try an HDR either in the environment or the reflection environment.
Dario Arnaez
Ok friends. I want to thank you for your help. This is the current state of my backyard proyect. I think the better tip was to do the water excluded for shadows. But also I add a personal touch to achieve the light refraction in the floor. Just I apply a bitmap in the face of the swimming pool. Look.
