Help using matte/shadow please)

Im running ADT 2005, and linking my models to VIZ

 

I'm using a load of tree models, due to the large render time, I wish to use a pre-rendered background and a matte/shadow material on my model and render in a few trees & tree shadows at a time.

 

The only problem is, there is no matte/shadow material in my VIZ version, am I missing something?

 

Is there an alternative way I can get this done?

I hope for you that there is a Matte Mat. (I use Max)

Maybe you can render the the trees alone by hiding the rest of the scene.

And then a Shadow Pass only.

Composite these elements.

 

It's just a idea, maybe the experts around here have other solutions.

i have viz 2005 have it has matte/shadow material. maybe theres a upgrade for your version some where?

I contacted Easynat/Bionatics who produced the trees, they said Autodesk Viz within ADT isnt shipped with the matte/shadow material, and I would have to ask Autodesk direct for the material to drop into Viz. (Thats if thats actually possible)...

 

oh well maybe its time to upgrade the software...
