jonrempel
Hi, When I render an image, the image is much brighter in rendered image frame than when I open up the file in Photoshop or any other picture viewer. Has anyone else run into this problem? Thanks
birbidouille
Hi, I don't know which application you use but it sounds a gamma correction problem. Your render corrects the gamma appearance of your picture and when you open it in another application, by example Photoshop, the programm is correcting the gamma again according to its preferences (edit > color settings > gray rollout). by example: in Vray you have to manually apply a 2.2 gamma correction by changing the values inside color mapping rollout, choose "gamma correction" and enters values 0.454 (1/2.2) in both dark and bright multipliers fields. To have the same image result in photoshop you have to set the same gamma correction: color settings options panel (path described above), under gray rollout, choose "gray gamma 2.2". With the same correction in our applications, your renders will have the same look. for a general explanation about gamma correction, go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma_correction hope it helps :-)
jonrempel
Thanks, Overriding the system gamma setting fixed the problem.
