sorin maximilian
I have two suggestions: First you would might want to hide some of the flattnes of the exterior background with some courtains or blinders source of some possible nice shadows as well And certainly you need some small objects on the counter or on the walls, just to make it look alive otherwise the potential is there: soft colours and light, nice materials good luck sorin
csd
darkblue: I don't have any specifics on the ceiling struts so yes, it is possible that they are too thin. Sorin, or anybody else that has any tips: Do you have any suggestions for creating a nice background that looks real and isn't so flat?
sorin maximilian
to be onest, I don't Anyway not for some fast ones I think you should keep a background as it is and not spend half of your time (modeling and rendering) for it that's why you need something else to catch the eye and move viewer's attentions to something else and again: I like the atmosphere, I realy do. is just a feeling of emptyness like an unhabited house how can I say? it doesn't tell a story I would like to make it to look as someone just have left the room well it's more easy to say that done but I think that's what makes great scenes look real and not just some good 3D images But that also depends on the purpose of your image sorin

Keylitho
Hey CSD, That kitchen look pretty sweet just a couple of thing's jump out at me when I look at this scene, the reflection subdivisions on the ceiling and floor materials I think should be higher and mabey for the dishwasher as well, and I agree with the others about some window coverting that would be a nice touch. ( know this is a work in Progress) That nook or whatever you call it should have some kind of light hangin down. and last the door in the background just looks kinda funny to me mabey the raised panels should be a little bigger. Great work man keep it up.
3dSol
very nice! i think the reason that the exterior is weird is that the image you are using is not as bright as the light that is coming in
