Here is an image of the scene I have been working on. I need some help on how to liven it up. I didn't put any people or cars in the scene yet because I want to focus on the look of the hotels exterior first. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I did some post work in PS.

I like the camera angle. There are a few things troubling me though. The sky looks like a thunderstorm is near. The tree on the left is competing too much with the building. The color of the glass is unrealistic and looks cg. Even if it's tinted glass, I don't think I've seen tinted / reflective coated glass with that color. I may be wrong about the glass though. The trees around the building are all the same. You should try and mix them up a bit.

you should work on the pavement textures, both asphalt and sidewalks, the trees look weird becaus they are all the same. The environment is also a little "flat", it lacks the surroundings, and a little more depth. Whats that strange panel (or building) behind the hotel? Does it need to be there or can you cover it with vegetation, and let it appear just behind the trees? And I also aggree that the glass texture is odd, perhaps the colour, perhaps the little transparency.

The building itself looks good, though.

Good luck

Thanks for all of your input. The weird thing behind the hotel are the glass panes of the stairway to the parking garage. Since I am focusing on the hotel I didn't do much as far as detail to the garage. Since the parking garage is on an angle, it looks as though it is just a glass wall. I have to switch some of the trees around so they aren't so repetative. I have been working on the glass to the hotel for 3 days now. The middle panes need to be a white/green transparent material that reflects clouds and the end panes need to be a darker transparent green that reflect clouds as well. I can't seem to get the right green material without it becoming blue due to the sky reflection. It needs to be transparent yet solid enough to reflect the sky. I could use help on getting the glass right. I reflected to clouds off of the glass photoshop, but I hate the way it looks. I'm using a cylinder with a sky mapped on it. I'm looking for a map with nice fluffy clouds a deep blue sky, any suggestions. I found a site that has a ton of sky jpegs, but none with fluffy clouds. Thanks.

Maybe its good to show your latest image if you have changed some settings, overall the image certainly looks very good. Just tweaking it a little more can boost the quality. These are my points:

- light falling on building is two flat, create one shaded side and one bright side by rotating the sun

- the background is nice but way to blue at ground level, some horizon details would greatly enhance the image

- some forground detail would be nice aswell, but maybe the cars / people can deal with that

Good luck

Ronald

Thanks for the update, I feel the image is almost done, but needs some little tweaking. I played around with your image in Photoshop to show you what I mean. Its over done, but helps to show the difference:

- perspective adjusted, straight line now in corner building, gives it more dramatic feel to it.

- bright and dark side added (way to dark, but to show the idea)

- different sky with more colour and horizon things

- a little filtering to give the image less pale feel

Please dont feel offended and hope you see what I mean,

Cheers

Ronald

If you are going to use trees in a line, it is better to use different images. Because when they come together in the perspective, the image repeats and looks like tiled.

yes, sometimes it doesn't look good, but with this image, you kinda don't notice it, it actually works, and remember, we might pick it up, but the average person will certainly have to look very carefully.;)
