Jago_0108
Does anybody knows what software could make a real time view walkthrough controlled by a joystick so that if you want to move right, left, up, down, zoom in, zoom out, go upstairs, downstairs, etc. Just like a game, a client told me he saw this technology "somewhere out there" and he wants me to make my walkthroughs like that. AJLynn
Quest3D? Blender's Game Engine system? There are several packages you can use for walkthroughs, and there's a forum for it in the "3D Software" section. Presumably, any of this software that lets you control with a keyboard but not a joystick could still be used if you have a program that maps your joystick controls to keys - I have that setup on my Mac with a Logitech Playstation-style game pad. Tommy L
Yes ive used a demo for Max, cant remember what its called tho. The limitation of the demo was that it restricted it to about 10 seconds. It will only work live in the viewport obviously, so you'll need a kickass graphics card to do anything reasonable. The other handy thing is that as it 'records' the movements, it will save it as a track, so you can attach objects to it. So you can animate stuff live. Good fun and great for natural looking movements. Its tricky to control at first, you use the keyboard as well to afford 3d movement/speed controls, kind of like a flight simulator i guess. Should be easy to find on google.
Brian Smith
Ask this question after SIGGRAPH next week and I'm sure you'll get some great answers.
