is it possible to create custom style for objects such as windows or doors that can be stored as a library item etc.

i'm not advanced user of revit, but just looking into its potential at the moment for modelling..... i do a lot of residential work for housing developers who use many standard components and i'm finding autocad to be very repetitive for the task, equally i imagine its quite slow in comparison to a parametric modeller used well.

your thoughts would be useful along with any good links etc

Thanks

James

Yes you can do customized doors, windows etc and save it into your library. You can make it also as parametric as you want e.i. different size, materials, and so on.

Building a library of your customized objects and selectively saving it into your project tamplate will save you tons of time and be very productive.

You can download also some customized families at http://www.revitcity.com

or at autodesk web library. To access autodesk web library when you open revit and try to load a family there is a button at the top right of the family dialog box "web library" and if you press that it will open the autodesk revit library web site.

Hope this helps.
