lala18
Could anyone advice how to open failing 3ds max file? I’ve done approximately 90% of job, but now I can’t open it. I tried as copy paste the file, but no use.
kippu
can you merge it ?
Paul Twyman
Yeah try merging objects from the scene into a brand new drawing. If you do it one by one you will probably find that it's one object causing all your problems. Had this a few times, I always try to save my scenes with different names after every major change aswell this way you've always got something to fall back on. plastic
if it's damaged, look for backup files in the 3dsmax\autoback folder.
lala18
Hi. Thank to all. I’d already used these methods, but no use. It isn’t possible to merge too. Back up file absent 2.

Paul Twyman
Hi, Yeah i think it's because the file has been created with an older version than your own. I think probably one of the newer shaders in this case. Possibly a Mental Ray material.
Paul Twyman
sorry meant newer version than your own
teapot
Yeah I also suspected it has something to do with version compatibility. Just wanted to check if others have encountered same problem. Thanks for the replies.
