RyanSpaulding
Has anyone here used Modo in arch vis work? I just recently checked out the site and was IMPRESSED by the render quality of the gallery images. I'm curious to know how this fits in an arch-vis workflow. http://www.luxology.com/gallery/ ^^ good lord

RyanSpaulding
or this one, same guy http://www.cgarchitect.com/gallery/image_spotlight.asp?galleryID=34945 The larger versions of the other two are at modo's official website and are impressive as well. Look wise, I see it as top dog barely edging out Brazil which slightly edges out VRay (just the overall render quality...not ease of use, option, ect). I'm highly impressed. Here's a link about their rendering engine: http://www.luxology.com/whatismodo/render.aspx
Da_RoCk
I would only be impressed if I knew the render time on that... haha... true. i definetely agree. Rendertime is essential. some of the rendering times from the modo forums are quite acceptable over the quality. here is a reference discussion about it: http://forums.luxology.com/discussion/topic.aspx?id=8421 however, if that quality would comeout w/o any post work it would be great. The colors and saturation is like the Reinhard color mapping.
plastic
in this times it's impossible to judge a renderer by image quality, because they all are able to produce this pic. the question is, how long will it take, and how easy is it to optimize speed vs quality. Adehus
Probably worth mentioning that Modo 202 has been announced and will soon be released. Lux is claiming big advances in rendering speed and GI quality over 201 in their Siggraph video: http://content10.luxology.com/event/2006/SIGGRAPH/Luxology_Brad_SIGGRAPH2006.mov Note- this is a BIG download, around 180megs.
