Well, here's one of my latest works I'm still working on refining. We're still working on some of the desin aspects (mostly the corner wood column configuration).

All is in Viz 2007 & mental ray with daylight and a spot. Reflections done in photoshop. Any suggestions on materials? We're using a standing seam metal roof and I'm having trouble getting away from making it look so massive and uniform.

Ever work on an image so long it's hard to be objective anymore? hehe.

I'm thinking about ditching the car until I can get it a little more realistic. Any ideas there?

I'm having trouble with my wood columns too. they look a little too perfectly round. I'm using all mr materials with bumps (with exception to the displacement on the grass).

Thanks for looking :)

It's looking good, but there are some improvements I think you could make...

- I think the glass detracts from the image...it would be nice to see something behind it...it's really dark. I realize glass gets pretty dark, but it's just a little too much. Maybe placing some blinds etc behind it would help.

- The standing seam looks good, but it should have a certain amount of reflection. Right now it looks like old, flat paint.

- The left side of the building it too dark...I can't see much of the detail.

- The front could be brighter too, and I'd try to increase the contrast of shadows...they seem weak in areas.

- The wood needs work...it's hard to tell there's a texture on it...looks really monotone.

- I'd ditch the car or work on the paint material and glass.

- The grass is a little too tall for my taste...looks slightly out of scale.

- I'd increase your AA settings...it's noticable on the parking lines.

- Do you have doors at the main entrance?

- For the background, consider using a hemisphere with a sky map applied. It's one of the best ways to get your glass to reflect right. Standing seam would look better too, as well as the car.

Hope that helps...I know how you feel about looking at an image for so long...

Chuck, great feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time to diagnose in so much depth. I think you've got a lot of good ideas and have hit a lot of the image's weaknesses right on the head. I've gotten some comments at work about bringing out the lawn mower too. haha. We'll have to give er a clip.

Much appreciated,

Take Care,

Michael

edit:

yes there are sliding glass doors at the main entrance.
