AJLynn
Try the Max7 version. I've used a Max7 version of Vray Advanced in Max8, Free has a pretty good chance of working too.

cerpnjak
with Vray Free, what features from the full version are excluded??? Can you render with Vray Free or does it limit you to a certain size???
notamondayfan
no size limit, but u have limited control, and no extras like vray materials, lights, etc. its still a damb fine renderer tho, especially as its free!!
Tim Saunders
I can't even tell you how much I loved vray free as I converted from radiosity about a year ago. Yes, tons of features are missing that advanced has, but it's free. Who else can claim that? Well I guess Mental Raycan, but Vray free has a much easier learning curve. Give it a go! Ricardo Eloy
Agreed. VRay Free is capable of many great things (actually it reminds me of the previous versions of VRay), is stable and free. No need to think twice.
renderbeads
I've downloaded the free version, installed it on my max, but it does not run. How do I run it on my machine? Please help. Thanks.
Tim Saunders
Did you open up the render scene dialogue box and under the "Common" tab go down to the bottom and pick Vray Free as the assigned renderer? After doing that you should be set.
renderbeads
Hey thanks Tim, thats a lot, being a sketchup user I'm fairly new on max and vray. But I'm getting a hang on things. And i'm eager to learn anything. Thanks for having the time to reply. Now all I got to do is to look for tuts on max and v ray. wish me luck.
