neko
thought that would make a better introductory title rather than 'newbie' or 'first posts' i've been lurking on CGarchitect for a few years - great site, great resource and intelligent forums and users (i've mostly been absorbing the problems and issues to deal with VIZ or MAX). i realized it was about time to come out of the shadows and try to offer something back to the community. after 20+ years studying and working in architecture, i am now an instructor at a local college (http://www.bcit.ca) and am responsible for teaching the CAD and computer graphic visualization courses for the architectural technology and drafting department(s). i am by no means an expert in VIZ, but i hope to offer some help with autocad and perhaps bring a few interesting projects to show and tell. for example, i have been working on a project for a number of years that involves building replica (80% scale) WW2 fighter planes - specifically a spitfire MK1. the interesting thing about this project (and i'll try and keep it short for now) is that i produce the working drawings in autocad from measurements from my partners original replica aircraft and then we sell the drawings for clients to build (15+ world-wide). because accuracy is of great importance, the 2D drawings are then modeled in 3D and assembled into a 'virtual spitfire' that allows us to test the accuracy and correctness of the individual components. it is a great project and an interesting challenge. i am more than happy to discuss in detail and i look forward to becoming more involved in the forums. if you want to visit the site and learn more, please go to http://www.tally-ho.org cheers paul rodham
