lgradzki
Hi there, I'm working of an interior animation containing many RPCs and using mental ray. For several days everything was rendering correctly, but today out of a sudden these red splotches appeared. Does anybody know the issue and/or any remedies for that? Cheers Lukasz

vince
Not sure if this will work with MR as I use VRay but, I have that problem when VRay detects a raytrace material in the scene (they don't get on), it might be worth searching the materials in your scene to see if there are a raytrace materials. lgradzki
I don't have any raytrace materials in the scene, but the architectural glass material seems to be causing problems. As long as I don't use final gathering everything is fine, but with final gather these weird splotches start to show up on the glass. I'll try to change the arch glass to standard mat
EricMLevy
MR doesn't support RPC. Do you have the plugin from RPC to make it work?
lgradzki
well, it does. you have to install the latest plugin though meanwhile i found the solution for the colorful artifacts - when tracing depth values in final gathering were higher than their equivalents in ray tracing i've got undesirable results... mmowry
i've had the exact same issues w/ any of the architectural materials and finalRender. Coming to work that morning after an all-night render to find splotches was not fun. I steer clear of those materials anymore.
Matt Clementson
All the architectural materials use the internal Raytracer - so you should avoid using them with any 3rd party renderer.
