1st time interior problems

I'd love your advice on this image. It's my first interior shot and I'm just not liking the lighting or much about it really. I think the problem is that I have it set up so that it's late afternoon-ish and there is natural light coming from the backside of the bar. There are lights on the ceiling and in the pendant lights hanging above the bar too. The bartop itself is lit from within and the panels on the wall are basically diffusers with lights behind it. Plus the TVs would illuminate and the panels behind the TV are a glass beaded wallcovering. I'm thinking too many light sources? Too busy, too illuminated, I know I'll need more objects like glasses and bottles, etcbut not not till I can figure out how to light this scene...I'm just not sure; I can't be objective anymore. Using MAX 7 , Mental Ray. I'll really appreciate all and any input.

Hi Robert,

I think its going to be a nice rendering but here are the things I would try to work on to make it better:

The composition can be better, meaning that the way the camera is looking at this is not very exciting, it's kind of just leaning to one side, it should be something that uses the space of the frame in a better way.

There is no light coming from the light fixtures. This is something I suggesst you do. It gives a meaning to those lamps.

The maps you are using: the wood seems too saturated for me, and the material for lamps I think it's too big, try scaling it down. Also the texture and colors on the tv displays, is too distracting , but if thos screens have a glow effect than it will reduce this.

I hope I am being clear and I hope my comments help you in any way. Good luck! getting those renderings right always involve a great ammount of time!

D.
